The adoption process for
Retired Greyhound Athletes, Inc. is as follows:
-
Receive information to decide if a greyhound is the correct breed for you
Please note we do not adopt to families with children under 7 years old.
-
Complete our application that ask questions about your lifestyle, veterinarian, and personal references. We will review the application and check your references.
Click here to download a copy of our application. (Please be patient as it is a large file)
-
When your application is approved, you may select a dog from those currently available, or wait until we have one that suits your lifestyle. If you have another dog, we will watch them interact with each other before completing the adoption. All greyhounds will be sterilized, have vaccinations up to date, be heartworm checked, and have had their teeth cleaned by a veterinarian before being placed. You may have to wait for this process to be completed before taking your dog home.

If you are serious about adopting one of these athletes, we strongly recommend reading Adopting the Racing Greyhound by Cynthia Branigan. This book is available at most libraries, pet stores, and via the internet.
